I have chosen to become a personal support worker for both professional and personal reasons. It was a profession that came to me from a deeply personal place.
At a very young age, I had the opportunity or life experience of becoming a carer. I looked after my own grandmother during her terminal illness. However, throughout the years I had the chance to help her, I was able to get to know the woman she was, before I knew her as ‘grandma’. I had heard of her successes as a tough businesswoman and matriarch.
