From a young child I have always had a fulfilment from looking after people in their most needing times therefore a job in care is something I have always sought after.
After leaving school I gained a place on the HNC Care and Administrative practices course which has lead me to where I am now. I got my first placement in a rehabilitation unit. The first day of placement was emotionally tough. I went home feeling more emotions that I ever believed was possible to feel in one day. This gave me more determination than ever. I went back twice per week and each day I learnt how to deal with my own emotions as well as how learning how to care for each individual patient. I was taught the skills I needed to become a great carer as well as life skills that I would keep with me for the rest of my life. My second placement was in a care home which taught me many different skills. I still took part in personal care and person centred care but I learned more about mental health such as dementia
