Job Description

~~We are looking for a carer for an active professional couple in their early 70s, living in Tyne and Wear. The wife has progressive supranuclear palsy and is wheelchair dependent. She needs help to shower, bath, dress and to go to the toilet. The husband is independent with no personal care needs, although he is slightly physically disabled. In addition to caring for the wife, the carer would be responsible for housework, laundry and clearing up after meals.  Help will often be required at night. Caring activities are expected to take 4-5 hours per day. The husband sometimes travels for meetings or work during which time the carer would also need to shop and prepare meals.  We might ask the carer to accompany us on occasions to our other homes in London and Spain. Applicants must be non-smokers and should be able to provide evidence of relevant experience and/or qualifications (for example NVQ level 2), have a full CRB check (or be prepared undergo one) and be able to provide references. A driving licence is also preferable. It is essential that the carer is flexible, unflappable and is happy to hear a lot of classical music. Spacious accommodation is available with en-suite bathroom. Internet access is available, and time and facilities can be made available for study. Terms and pay to be negotiated.
