Job Description

Live‑in Personal Assistant

Care, travel & sailing – a truly unique role

This is not a standard care job.

We are looking for an open‑minded, adventurous and compassionate person to support a young disabled lady in living a full, active and meaningful life.

This role combines:

  • One‑to‑one personal support
  • Travel and life on the water
  • Human connection, motivation and independence

You will live and work closely with her, primarily at her private home in the UK, and at times on board a sailing boat, sharing a lifestyle that values movement, curiosity and independence.

The work is personal, hands‑on and sometimes demanding — but also deeply rewarding, varied, and unlike anything else.

About the role

You will support a young disabled adult in her daily life, helping her to:

  • Get up, get ready and feel comfortable
  • Stay socially connected and involved with family and friends
  • Enjoy outings, activities, travel and new experiences
  • Pursue her passion for sailing and being at sea

Your role includes:

  • Personal and intimate care (washing, dressing, hygiene)
  • Practical day‑to‑day support and organisation
  • Emotional encouragement and companionship
  • Supporting hobbies, routines and interests
  • Travelling together, including extended periods on a sailing boat

This is a live‑in, long‑term role, within a small, private and respectful environment.

Who this role suits

We are not looking for a traditional or purely medical profile.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Kind, calm and emotionally intelligent
  • Flexible, adaptable and comfortable with change
  • Physically fit and confident with hands‑on support
  • Curious about the world and open to adventure
  • Able to live and work respectfully within a private household
  • Happy to combine responsibility with adventure

You might be:

  • Early in your career, and seeking a meaningful experience
  • Someone who enjoys challenge, responsibility and learning
  • Interested in travel, sailing or alternative lifestyles
  • Motivated by people, connection and purpose rather than routine

Previous care experience is helpful but not essential.

Training and support will be provided.

What we offer

  • A rare and genuinely meaningful position
  • Variety between home life, travel and sailing
  • A respectful, private working environment
  • Opportunity to gain experience and confidence at sea
  • Stable, long‑term employment
  • Competitive package (details shared during interviews)

Practical requirements

  • Fluent English
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • Driver's UK license
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Comfortable providing intimate personal care
  • Enhanced DBS check required (supported)

Why this role matters

You will play a key role in enabling independence, confidence and enjoyment of life for a young person who wants to keep exploring, moving and feeling alive.

If you are looking for a role that challenges you, grows you and stays with you, we would love to hear from you.
