Job Description

We are looking for a kind, experienced companion carer for our 87-year-old father, based in his beautiful home in Portelet Bay, Jersey, with stunning sea views.

Must have a UK/EU passport with the right to work in the Channel Islands
Start: ASAP, preferably by 11 May 2026
End: 13 July 2026*

*Family holiday starts this date, may wish contract to continue 21 July to circa end Sept
Pay: £120 per day
Return flight from Europe to Jersey, accommodation and food included, plus use of a car

About the role:
This is primarily a companionship role. Our father is physically well and independent with personal care but has memory loss and some cognitive decline following a small stroke and subsequent neurosurgery.

My father is still very capable in many ways – he enjoys helping around the house, setting the table, making drinks, and getting involved in daily life – but he can be very forgetful from one moment to the next and needs gentle structure and support.

Duties include:

• Medication prompting
• Cooking simple meals
• Daily household support (cleaner comes weekly)
• Driving him out daily for walks, coffee or lunch
• General companionship and maintaining routine

About him:

My father is kind and incredibly easy-going. He is rather deaf, which makes chatting a challenge, but he's lovely and easy company. He enjoys getting out and about, whether for a walk, coffee, or a drive somewhere scenic.
He retires to his bed early, sleeps well at night, and usually rests in the afternoons, which allows for downtime during the day.

Other details:

• You will have a large bedroom en-suite on the top floor, and your own lounge on the home's mid-level
• My lovely sister and family live 40 minutes away and visit/spend time when they can
• Time off can be arranged (typically 1 day per week plus daily breaks)
• Valid driver’s licence required
• Experience with memory loss/cognitive decline preferred
• DBS/police clearance required
• Must have a valid right to work in the UK/Channel Islands

Preference for a female carer, ideally middle-aged, with a calm, warm nature.

This is a lovely short-term opportunity in a very special setting on a beautiful island during the summer.
