LIVE-IN CARER VACANCY - Kind, Friendly Carer Wanted - to start May 2018

You would live in our house and help look after my wife, Mary, who has Alzheimer’s Disease. We can pay you up to £1000 per month on top of the free accommodation. The amount depends on the number of hours you want to do; you might have another part time job. There will be periods of weekend work and very occasionally a week when I go away. 

You might have some previous experience of caring but this is not essential; if you are the right person you can learn as you go. Much of the work will simply involve being in the house with Mary or in taking her out. Mary loves gardening and short country walks. A visit to a country house is a favourite outing.

Mary does not display any agressive or hostile behaviour (as some people with dementure do). She is easily confused and can get upset by the fact that she can't remember things and isn't sure what is going on. She can recognise new people if she sees them on a regular basis which is why we are looking for an ongoing presence in the house. 

In our smart, modern house, your room is 3m. x 3.5m. It also has its own en-suite with shower, basin and toilet. There is a large wardrobe, bedside tables and a garden view. Our house is on a regular bus route between Bradford and Huddersfield. The small town of Brighouse is 2 miles away.

If you have your own car you can keep it on our drive. If not it might be possible to use our car.

Meals and meal times are flexible. You might want to be self-sufficient, in which case you can share our kitchen facilities. Sometimes you might want to eat with us. It is up to you.

Your most important qualities will be to care about Mary and to fit into our relaxed but considerate family setting.
