Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Live-in Carer to look after our 95 year old mother living in Brighton 5 mins from the Front (the sea).  You need  to be a responsible and mature woman with relevant qualifications and an up to date DBS.  Our mother has some dementia (including serious short-term memory loss) but she is very present in the moment and responsive to stimulating conversation about, for example, travel, books, gardening, cats etc. She enjoys playing Scrabble and doing simple crosswords (with some help).  She is hard of hearing and needs a fluent and clear speaker of English.

She needs some personal care (some help with showering and selecting her clothes to wear) but is very independently-minded and finds it hard to give up control. She broke her hip last summer and now uses a stick or frame.

Nicely-cooked and presented food is important to her and she enjoys eating a lot of vegetables cooked interestingly as well as some meat and fish.

The Carer would have their own room in a 2 bedroomed terraced Victorian cottage (in a pretty street) and share bathroom and the two toilets.
