Compassionate Carer Wanted to Support a Remarkable Lady in Her Own Home (Manual Driver Essential)

We are looking for a kind, patient, and proactive carer to support Barbara — a bright, independent, and engaging lady living in her own home. Barbara has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and would benefit from gentle daily support while continuing to enjoy the life she loves.

About Barbara:

• A former maths teacher and author of mathematics books — sharp, articulate, and independent

• Lives life with confidence and dignity, and still manages her personal care independently

• Has excellent mobility and enjoys spending time in her beautiful, mature garden

• Loves outings to local places such as garden centres, coffee shops, and Devil’s Punch Bowl for lunch

• Enjoys good company, conversation (though may repeat herself), and the comfort of her own home

Your Role Will Include:

• Providing gentle reminders and compassionate support, while always allowing Barbara to feel in control

• Assisting with medication administration (meds are securely stored; access code will be provided)

• Supporting with meal preparation, laundry, light cleaning, and keeping her home tidy

• Helping to order and collect prescriptions, and manage online food shopping from Waitrose

• Taking Barbara on local outings in the car — making the most of sunny days and her love of the outdoors

What We’re Looking For:

• A calm, friendly, and respectful carer with a warm personality

• Must hold a full driving licence and be confident driving a manual car (or have your own)

• Someone who enjoys meaningful, one-to-one care and can offer both practical help and genuine companionship
