Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of a professional male who works full-time and lives in a managed apartment building in London. Our client is a positive, friendly individual who is looking for a dedicated and professional live-in carer to support him with all aspects of daily living, enabling him to continue his career and enjoy an active social life.

Our client uses an electric wheelchair and requires support with personal care and physical tasks. He has Cerebral Palsy but is fully able to communicate and make decisions independently. He values carers who are respectful, efficient, and mindful of his privacy.

This is a live-in position, with the carer residing at the client’s property during working rotations. You will provide support seven days per week with regular breaks each day.

Key responsibilities include:

• Support with a full morning personal care routine, including use of a mobile hoist (Mini Oxford) and shower chair
• Assist with continence support, including urine bottle and bowel care, maintaining dignity throughout
• Prepare morning items, including drinks, nutrition supplements, and medication
• Administer medications and supplements as prescribed, including PRN pain relief and reflux medication, in accordance with the care plan
• Assist with dressing, including splints, shoes and correct positioning in the electric wheelchair
• Prepare and assist with all meals throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch and evening meal
• Provide drinks and hydration support throughout the day
• Set the client up for their working day, including phone, buzzer and desk positioning
• Assist with bedtime routine: oral hygiene, undressing, and hoisting safely to bed
• Ensure all necessary items are within reach at the end of the day
• Keep the home clean and tidy; assist with general household tasks, including cooking and shopping
• Monitor and report any concerns regarding skin integrity, health, or well-being to the care team
• Accompany the client to medical appointments when required
• Support safe travel to work and within the community as needed
• Maintain accurate care records via the openPASS care management system
• Liaise with the Arbour care team and on-call support as needed

• Male (in accordance with the client’s stated preference under the Equality Act 2010)
• Confident, competent, and trained in manual handling and hoist operation
• Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities or complex care needs
• Excellent communication skills — professional, respectful, and clear
• Ability to follow a detailed care plan precisely and consistently
• Medication administration competence 
• Reliable, punctual and well-organised, with a calm and professional manner
• Comfortable with personal care routines, including continence support
• A positive attitude and genuine respect for the client’s independence and privacy

• Previous live-in care experience
• Experience working with clients who have Cerebral Palsy or similar physical disabilities
• Familiarity with care management apps (e.g. openPASS or similar)
• Ability to cook a variety of meals and manage basic household tasks independently

• Structured rotation pattern to be agreed (3 weeks on / 2 weeks off or similar)
