Job Description

We are a family looking for one self-employed carer to provide assistance to our mother in her home. Our 79 year old Irish mother has had dementia for 5 years but is a great friendly person, who is physically mobile and generally a very easy person to look after. There is a great opportunity for you to build a long warm relationship.

Duties will include support with all aspects of her daily living such as housekeeping, helping her to wash, dress and undress, toileting, bathing, meal preparation cleaning and prompting medication. In addition, you will need to accompany her to and from her day care centre on Monday & Wednesday plus occasional medical appointments.

The house and our mother will be yours to govern, if you wish to spend the day baking cakes together or working in the garden together, the family would be happy to support you. You will usually be on your own with her in the house, so previous care or nursing experience is essential.

This role is shared between 2 carers and would expect you to work for two-weeks on followed by two-weeks off work rota, but this could be negotiable.

The house is in Bromley, Kent with a lot of local facilities and fast train lines into London.

You MUST be currently eligible to work in the UK, you must be of good character, well presented, fit and active. You must also be kind, patient and prepared to respect and fit in with her lifestyle. You need to be organised and able to work alone and on your own initiative.

As a live-in carer you will need, as a minimum, some previous experience in a caring capacity and the ability to run a home.

Working Hours & Time Off

You will be working for 7 days per week and can expect to be available to the client for 8 hours per day, although the work will not be fully demanding for the whole of this period. You can expect to have at least two breaks of 2 / 3 hours per day.

Food, Accommodation

Your food and accommodation is provided by the family. There is a private bedroom with a double bed. There are also wardrobes and cupboards for your use.

There is also free high-speed wifi and TalkTalk TV in the house.

Weekly Payment

This live-in care position role attracts a £550 per week payment

We will pay an additional 3% to cover administration costs and double daily rate for Bank Holiday working.

Work permits

UK government will not issue work permits for this type of work, so you must have a right to work in the UK (EU passport, working holiday maker visa, etc.), which you will have to prove by documentation.

An enhanced criminal records check, along with a satisfactory interviews with the family members will need to be completed before we can offer this position.
