A private Christian family is looking for a permanent live-in carer, ideally a qualified nurse or experienced care professional, to share care with the daughter, of looking after elderly lady with dementia in her home.  The household is shared with her husband, daughter and son-in-law. The role will be for 1 Carer or for 2 carers, with either 1 or 2 weeks on and 1 or 2 weeks off on rotation with the other carer.

Hours

• 5 days per week, worked out as 35 hours per week, roughly 7 hours per day, but willing to be flexible.
• 1-hour break during the day
• Tuesday and Friday off (Subject to working for 2 hours each of these days by negotiation)
• Total Hours per week = 39 hours

Salary

5 days at £150 per day = £750 per week.
 

Tasks

• Washing, dressing and grooming.
• Personal hygiene
• Companionship involving the ability to engage on a meaningful basis with the lady and understand the way in which dementia affects her.
• Understanding of Christian faith and reading Christian literature and daily devotion readings to the lady.
• Activities to stimulate and provide structure to the day by way of reading aloud, undertaking crosswords and creating activities to undertake during the daytime.
• Some meal preparation and ironing where required

Skills

• Caring, compassionate, patient and kind.
• Qualification in care or ideally nursing
• Experience in working with dementia and understanding of how this affects an individual
• Administering medication
• Ability to mix well with the rest of the family, to fit in and be flexible.
• Proactive and organised.
