Job Description

We are looking for a female* carer to work privately for a delightful lady with MS. 

Pleasant working environment, easy parking and a decent hourly rate! £8.77 per hour day rate, £36 per sleeping night shift (which includes 3 day rate hours in the evening totaling £62.31 per night). 

Currently there are 6 nights and 4, 3-hour morning shifts available per fortnight, primarily on the weekends, equaling around £480 pcm. There are also plenty of opportunities for extras when covering annual leave and sickness. 

H is 60 years old and a sensitive and artistic lady who loved to dance and paint before she became ill. She loves music, especially reggae and classical and since her mobility has been limited, she has taken great pride in her home and garden. 

Job Description 
The client has 24 hours of care/support per day, which allows her to continue to enjoy living in her own home in Stapleton. You will be part of a team providing personal care, emotional support and companionship, to assist H in maintaining her well-being and independence. H has a great personality and is very easy-going. 
The hours are fixed, however you will be required to undertake extra hours to help cover sickness/annual leave, so a willingness to be flexible is important. 

Duties include: 
Personal care; showering, toileting, hair washing, skin care, dressing, nail care/make up, 
Meal preparation, usually using fresh ingredients 
Assisted feeding 
Administering medication 
Providing regular drinks 
Maintaining records 
Catheter Care 
Washing/vacuuming, cleaning house as required 
Daily physiotherapy 
Taking H out (modified motability car provided, excludes personal use) 

Person Spec 
Essential 
Understanding of Person Centered Care 
Excellent communication skills 
Minimum of 6 months - 1 years’ experience, working for clients with high care needs. 
Current DBS check 
Up to date training in Manual Handling; Food Hygiene; Infection Control (or a willingness to undertake training prior to starting) 
Ability to cook 
Time management/organisational skills 
Initiative 

Desirable 
NVQ Level 2 in Care 
First Aid training 
Experience of administering medication 
Catheter Care 

You will have a cheerful, friendly and approachable personality and plenty of initiative!! 
There are no deadlines as such, but you will need to manage/organise your day to cover all the essential tasks.
