Croydon Independent Living Scheme was set up 25 years ago to assist disabled people to live independently in the community in the Croydon area. Each disabled person is supported by two personal assistants who provide 24 hour support working a two-day-on, two-day-off shift pattern with every other long weekend off. The personal assistants are provided with accommodation where they live when they are working on the scheme.
