Job Description

This is a unique opportunity. Our client is looking to fill this position by the end of July – mid-August. All interviews will be completed remotely. You must have access to a phone or computer with video capabilities for the interviews.

This role is perfect for someone with no personal commitments.

Please read the following carefully:

Our client is looking for a replacement live-in caregiver. After 12 years with the same caregiver she has sadly decided she would prefer not to relocate with the client. Just to provide a little more history: Since 1998, this client has lived in 3 countries and 8 cities, however you will be the 4th live-in caregiver in 22 years. The caregiver in 1998 lasted only 14 months. He only ever has 1 live-in caregiver; the rest are hired as non-live-in for the purpose of rotational, midday hours, and backup caregivers.

So, this opens an opportunity for the following:

Are you aged between 21 and 35 years of age and able to move around a “dead weight” as it's been described? (age is his preference, due to the physical requirements in his care, and past issues with non-live-in caregivers, all ages will be considered and tested before final hire)

Are you able to travel internationally often (e.g. America or Europe), and open to relocating often due to the client's work commitments? He will be based in Edinburgh until the end of 2020, then maybe another city in Scotland or England for 2021. There may be periods where the client may spend a month or longer in America, the reason for needing a candidate with the ability of international travel, and no commitments to stop travel ranging from 4 days to as long as 10 weeks.

The successful candidate will help in the hiring process of other non-live in caregivers for hours and day rotations to meet the client’s care schedule and support the live-in caregiver.

The client is a professional male in his 40s, completely wheelchair dependent. Requires round the clock care due to Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 (SMA2). Your work will round to about 8-9 hours per day, most days less. Never 7 days per week, including on international trips, as the client already has an established network in the required cities.

Compensation:

  • very competitive monthly salary
  • Free room and board (your own private fully furnished room, all utilities paid for by the client, including cable and internet)
  • A monthly meal allowance for 3 meals x 7 days per week. (yes, the client is including your days off in allowance, this can vary by location, as food costs fluctuate by location)
  • Mileage reimbursement if a personal car is used for the client’s errands.
  • All international travel costs when accompanying the client will be paid by the client. In some cases, you will receive an increase in that month's salary.

The following list gives examples of the type of duties you may undertake: All of these should be done in a manner that supports the client’s independence.
