Blue Sky Enabling specialises in flexible person-centred services for people with complex needs that focuses on their capacity and not just their disability. No matter what a person’s condition we support them to live active, engaged lives as part of their community. We believe that everyone deserves to live with as much dignity, respect and independence as possible.
We currently have a vacancy within our Older Adults team for a live-in female enabler supporting an elderly lady. This is a 1 month placement from December 8th to January 9th. The family live close by and are very supportive and the accommodation provided to the enabler is very comfortable and welcoming; the enabler will have a bedroom, bathroom and a study with internet connection.
The Service User has terminal cancer and therefore requires support including light domestic duties, preparing meals, assisting with personal care and companionship. The service user has two small dogs and would like support to continue to take them for short walks for as long as she is able. There is a car available for use and an enabler is invited to use the car for outings with the service user.
Full training will be given and a manager will be available to answer any questions you may have; you will be asked to work towards your Care Certificate if you do not already have one and further training will be offered once this is completed.
This position is a really special one and we are looking for someone who is kind, caring and ready to take on the important role of keeping this Service User living in her own home comfortably.
1.) Provide daily support and companionship for the service user in her own home.
2.) Maintain up to date records of daily activities.
3.) Attend supervisions with Care Managers to discuss Support Plans and Service User progress.
4.) Complete all necessary training and attend any extra (Service User specific) training that the Care Manager deems necessary.
5.) Stay up to date with company Policies and Procedures.
6.) Liaise and maintain a good relationship with the service user’s family.
1.) Positive can-do attitude with a proven track record of putting energy and enthusiasm into previously assigned tasks.
2.) Experience with older people from a practical hands on role.
3.) Have a diverse range of relevant skills, knowledge and experience of working with people with complex needs.
4.) Good listening, time management and communications skills.
5.) Have good written skills and basic IT.
6.) Desire to make a difference in the lives of older people.
7.) Must be a driver and happy to drive the family’s car.
