Job Description

We are looking for a long-term (or micro-team of 2-3 on a rota) live-in carer for my 93 year old Mum.

Starting on 23rd October.

£120 per day; self-employed.

Mum has had dementia for many years - it is advanced but she does not have aggression. She is frail and requires assistance to stand and walk.

Outline of main duties:

All personal & continence care, medication administration, cook (pureed diet) and feed her, encourage fluid intake, assist her to mobilise (a pop-in carer or a family member will help with getting her to stand and walk) and provide companionship (Mum responds well to people who smile and are kind to her). And light household duties.

Outline of daily routine:

  • 8.30am wake gently for tea, meds and breakfast in bed
  • 9.15am shower/full wash & dressing
  • 11am snack
  • 1.15pm lunch
  • Break for 2 hours, usually starting between 1.30-2pm
  • Immediately after break, continence care
  • 4pm snack
  • 6pm dinner in lounge
  • 8pm meds, then personal care and put her to bed – she is usually settled in bed by 8.45pm

In between these times it is important to encourage fluid intake and to interact with Mum for companionship.

Mum lives with my husband and I (and our dog) in the family home in a small north Oxfordshire village. Please note there is not a separate annex – we all live in the family home and share a kitchen; Mum has her own lounge. The live-in carer has their own bedroom and bathroom.

You will need to be eligible to work in the UK (have a UTR for Inland Revenue purposes), have a current DBS, be insured, and be fully vaccinated. References will be required.
