Job Description

Carer/Support worker/PA – Live in person needed in Pembrokeshire West Wales.

A happy adaptable person needed for informal family home to assist my husband with;

Personal care - toileting, showering, dressing, moving and eating.

Physical care – daily exercises, stretching, mobility, strengthening and breathing.

Cognitive care – engaging, memory games, keeping mind sharp and focused.

Enabling life living – to take and be part of family life.

Your main duties will be working with my husband, but also (because he would if he could) help with the day to day tasks of running a home.

You would live in our home as part of the family along with another live in carer/PA  who works with me plus day carers who support us.

We are best described as a slightly Bohemian couple, we live with our adult family in a cottage by the coast in West Wales.

We both have Multiple Sclerosis and have mobility problems. My husband’s needs are more physically demanding than mine.

My personal needs are someone able to push me in my wheelchair and someone to take on the work of running my home and organising staff. However these are mostly met by current day carers and another live in person.

Although, you will need to help, plus at times cover for them.   

The work is varied;

To support my husband in taking part in all aspects of daily life in the house, anything from cleaning, cooking, laundry, care giving to days out with us all.

Preferable: experience as a carer would be useful BUT, we would consider someone who is a quick and willing learner, hardworking and fun, who can show initiative in all situations.

Someone who can take charge when needed and be able to roll their sleeves up and just get on with it. 

Driving is a MUST, you will need to be a competent driver, as we live in a rural area and you would be the main driver.

In addition you will need to: have a full working visa, be fluent in English, enjoy cooking (must be meat eater) have a UK bank account, be prepared to be self-employed, have a big sense of humour and not be allergic to our cat.

Hours: 24/7 – 1 day off a week, plus mutually arranged breaks in the day working around existing carers and the family.

Pay: £450 a week, Plus addition payment for room, food and board. (Training will be given)
