Job Description

Senior Live‑in Support Worker (Supported Living)

Pay: up to £1,200 (DOE) • Contract: Live‑in • Location: Yeovil area (supporting across 3 houses)

Help people live their fullest lives.

We’re expanding our supported living services in the heart of Yeovil and are looking for a compassionate, proactive Senior Live‑in Support Worker to work across three small homes (each home supports 2–4 adults, with capacity for 4 in each). The people we support have learning disabilities, with ages ranging from the mid‑20s to mid‑50s.

You’ll champion independence at home and in the local community—supporting people to access day placements, local shops and cafés, parks and leisure centres, appointments and community groups—building confidence, skills and meaningful routines close to where they live. Your presence, encouragement and practical support will make every day more independent, connected and meaningful, while keeping our houses running smoothly as a welcoming part of the Yeovil community.

What you’ll do

  • Lead by example in the home: model excellent, person‑centred support and coach colleagues during shifts.
  • Care plan reviews: contribute to and coordinate regular care plan and risk assessment reviews, ensuring goals, outcomes, and strategies stay current and truly person‑led.
  • Family liaison: liaise with families/advocates with warmth and professionalism—share updates, listen to what matters, and work together to keep the service running smoothly across all three houses.
  • Routines & daily living: support people to get ready, plan their day, and build skills that promote independence.
  • Community & activities: get out and about—day placements, shopping, appointments, leisure, nature walks, arts—whatever matters to each person.
  • Positive support approaches: use reassuring communication and proactive strategies to reduce anxiety and maximise independence.
  • Health & wellbeing: follow support plans, promote healthy choices, administer prompts or support as required, and record clearly and professionally.
  • Teamwork across three houses: share updates, handovers, and ideas so support is consistent and person‑led across all homes; work collaboratively with families, day‑placement staff and professionals.

About you

  • Heart for people: friendly, patient, and genuinely motivated by helping others thrive.
  • Driver: You’ll need a driving licence to get people to day placements and activities.
  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities/autism (or strong transferable experience) and confidence with positive, proactive support.
  • Comfortable with live‑in working, clear boundaries, and being a steady, calming presence.
  • Great communicator: confident liaising with families and recording updates that inform care plan reviews.
  • You'll need Right to Work in the UK and to complete

Why join us

  • Real impact: small, homely settings where your ideas and initiative are noticed.
  • Values‑based culture: person‑centred practice, dignity, inclusion, and positive risk‑taking.
  • Growth: senior responsibilities, with support to broaden your skills.
  • Supportive leadership: accessible managers, reflective practice, and warm team dynamics.

The detail

  • Pay: up to £1,200 per week (dependent on skills/experience and live‑in pattern).
  • Houses: you’ll support across 3 local homes (each 2–4 people now; up to 4 when at capacity).
  • People we support: adults with learning disabilities who are neurodivergent—each person has unique strengths, routines, and goals.
  • Rota: live‑in blocks with agreed time off (we’ll discuss patterns that work for you and the service).
